Gregory Parker

August 5th, 1981 - January 7th, 2025
Gregory Parker

At the age of 43, Greg passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, after a year of battling cancer. Greg was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Frank and Dianne Parker on August 5th, 1981.

Born into a military family, Greg had the opportunity of living in many different places throughout Canada and the United States, before settling in Edmonton. He was a country boy at heart even though he grew up in the city. His love for animals and the country life, eventually took him to Olds College where he graduated from the Farrier Science program. Greg had a special way with horses which led him not only into the farrier business, but also into guiding and leading pack trips for a number of youth camps. Greg met his wife Corine (Harrison) Parker at one of these camps and they were married on September 14, 2007. Greg had a great love for the outdoors, animals, people, his work as a farrier, and for ministry.

Greg’s faith in Christ was his sustaining strength, and his greatest passion.

Greg will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Corine; parents, Frank and Dianne Parker; sisters, Sarah (Luc) Tremblay and Anna (Rob) Specht; grandfather, Stan Parker; eleven nieces and four nephews, as well as a large extended family, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church in Didsbury on Saturday, January 25, 2025 @ 2:00 PM.

Greg had a wonderful earthly testimony while he spent his life here on earth. We met Greg when his family started going to Bethel in Edmonton just as he became a teenager. We have such great memories of him (and his family) at church, camp and with his family. He will be missed here but we will rejoice one day when we get to meet up again with the saints in glory!

Greg was a charming and welcoming Christian Brother. As a family we remember how him and Corine welcomed us in their home in sundrie when we were visiting rural Alberta for the first time.

We will continue to uplift the Parker family in general during this hard time of mourning but we rejoice because Jesus conquered death and we are reminded that our brother Greg is now resting with The Lord in an eternal peace.

I was saddened to hear of Greg's passing. He was thoughtful, kind and a great farrier. During his visits we had many interesting and thought provoking discussions about all kinds of things. Through his advice and experience he helped improve the feet of my old and much loved mare, Penny. He is missed. Wishing you peace and love.....

Although I met Greg as a farrier, he quickly became a well respected friend. Besides being an amazing farrier who always sought more knowledge, he became a great friend. I always looked forward to Greg’s visits to the barn because of the deep conversations and discussions we had.
May God be with you and your family at this time.

I had the privilege of being guided by Greg on several pack trips through Blue Bronna. Greg was a fantastic person with an incredible collection of the worst dad jokes ever! I have thought of him hundreds of times over the years and always with fondness. The world has lost a wonderful person. Even though I haven't seen him in years, I will miss him.

I met Greg while working at Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp in 2010. He took time to take me with him on various adventures, including finding new trails, teaching me about horse shoeing, teaching me basic horse packing, and demonstrating a fun, laid-back personality that was very easy to get along with. I remember him as a man with a passionate faith in Jesus Christ and a heart for ministry. I would have liked to connect with him again, but I’ll look forward to that in Heaven.

We will remember with great fondness Greg's love for the Lord and his willingness to help out at Meadowlodge Bible Camp. We enjoyed his presence and his joyful spirit as he served with us to present the Gospel to boys and girls of all ages. We admired his mature insight into life and his obvious trust in His Lord and Saviour. Our heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife, and the rest of his treasured family.

I remember the little boy that gave me his bedroom when I have been hosted by his family, back in 1991.

Raised in a Catholic faith, they brought me with them to Rosemount Bible Church in Montréal, that revived my faith and made me feel Christian.

I remember him as a faithful servant of our Savior.

May the Lord support you with his infinite love, miséricorde and compassion in the hope to know him by the right side of God, interceding for us .

I understand your pain and I Share it.

From beyond the atlantic océan and in union of prayers,
Your friend Olivier

Dear Dianne , Frank, Corine, Sarah and family, Anna and family,

Oh how our hearts go out to you all at this very difficult time. Memories of Greg are of such a cheerful little fellow with those sparkling dark eyes when you lived in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Georgia when we last saw him. It is wonderful to hear of his sustaining faith in Jesus in whose arms he now safely rest. May the Lord sustain, comfort and keep you as you move forward with memories of this treasure that he loaned to you for a few short years.

Much love and prayers,

Faye and Duane

We had a horse that would let a farrier near him . Greg came to the stall to reattach a pulled shoe. This horse stood rock solid as Greg talked and stroked him . It was amazing!!

A true
gentleman.
