In Loving Memory of Gwen Byers May 13, 1945 – August 19, 2025

Gwen Byers, born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by love. She was 80 years old.

Gwen was known for her passion for crocheting, knitting, and the many crafts that brought joy to her and those around her. Her hands were rarely still, always weaving warmth into every stitch.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Iris Carroll and Lynn Cook; her sons, Larry (Karen) Barclay and Calvin (Carole) Barclay; her four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Gwen also leaves behind good friends Doug and Donna, along with many family and friends.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Though she is no longer with us, Gwen’s spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is stitched into the fabric of our lives, and she will be deeply missed.

May she rest in peace.

My dearest sister, I will always remember your generosity, sense of humour and kindness. I will always remember you sending me money when I was in Nurse’s training. I was only making $10 a month and you felt sorry for me. You were working as a waitress then at the age of 18. You always put others first before yourself. We had so many great times, trip to LasVegas, Penticton, many trips when I would pick you up from Regina in Swift Current, on our way to Calgary to see Mom. So many fond memories. I am going to miss you immensely. I love you so much. Take care of Mom and Dad, and Dennis, our brother in law , until I come to join you in Heaven. You are no longer in pain. You will be sorely missed by your 2 boys, Bill (Karen) and Calvin(Carole) and grandchildren and sisters, Lynn and Iris, plus, nieces and nephews. Rest in peace my dear sister. God’s speed.

Aunt Gwen was a delight and I very much enjoyed our FaceTime conversations and our family gatherings. I remember one conversation we had my Aunt was wearing a beautiful blue jacket. One things for sure my Aunt was very talented and had a good sense of style and humour.

I send all my love to my family during this difficult time.

I love and miss you already Aunt Gwen

Gwen was one of my two older sisters, and Dennis my husband who passed this year before Gwen
and myself drove saw Gwen in many of the places where she lived, Kelowna, Kamloops, Swift Current, Calgary
and Airdrie and we always had a good time and good food which Gwen made. Gwen was
excellent at the many crafts she did and doilies and other things I still have. Will miss you
Gwen, very much, from your sister Lynn, Dennis in spirit who is looking out for you, Brenda and Karen

Love You Lynn and Family
