Harry Alfred Dawson

May 16th, 1942 - March 17th, 2025
Harry Alfred Dawson

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Alfred Dawson on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the age of 82, with family by his side. He is predeceased by his wife, Norma Hopkins.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dallas and Lisa (Tanya); his grandchildren, Cora and Leah (Clayton); great-granddaughter Sailor; sister, Judy (Wayne); brothers, Brian (Cindy), Bob (Karen) and Stephen (Sandy); along with his nieces, nephews and close family and friends.

A special thank you to Louise for her friendship; they shared a love of sports, shopping (especially for points lol) and “tea time”!

Harry retired at 58 as a gas plant operator in Two Hills where he enjoyed his retirement golfing, travelling and drinking beer with his buddies. He loved having his family out to visit where he would always barbecue on his charcoaled briquettes (and arguing if the lid should be opened or closed hahaha). Many years later he moved to Carstairs and continued enjoying these things with his Carstairs friends. He enjoyed watching Golf, the Oilers, Flames, Stampeders and Blue Jays and of course always had something to say about the players! He had a love of nature and enjoyed taking drives into the country.

We would like to say Thank You to all of the family and friends for visiting him and keeping his spirits up! We would like to express our gratitude to all of the hospital staff and the caregivers and therapists at the Vernon Fanning Centre. A special acknowledgment to the South Health Campus for their kindness and empathy at the end of Harry’s life.

In lieu of flowers or donations please raise a glass in honour of Harry’s memory❤️

I still don’t want to believe he is gone. I will always treasure the memories of our pancake breakfasts at their house, even though he wouldn’t let us have beverages with our meals or else we would be too full. The laughs and funny moments we had with the caveman in the basement- if you know, you know. Those times will stay with me forever. I miss him so much, but I take comfort in knowing he’s reunited with Norma. I’m sure they’re watching over us together. Love you grandpa. Rest In Peace.
