Heather Ellen Lariviere (nee Floyd)

March 13th, 1943 - May 12th, 2025
Heather Ellen Lariviere (nee Floyd)

Heather was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was raised North of Moose Jaw, (Bellbeck) on a farm by her parents, John and Marjorie (Powell) Floyd along with her brother, John “Jack”.

She attended Carmel School; a one room school, until she moved to Moose Jaw to live with her Aunt. There she attended the Convent Of Sion or Sion Academy. Later she would attend Moose Jaw Tech or as it is now known as A.E. Peacock Collegiate.

Heather raised her 5 children in Moose Jaw, who are now left to grieve; Larry, with his son Cody of Caroline, AB; Cathy (Mike) Williamson of Airdrie and their two sons, Taylor, and Graham (Carolyn) Williamson with their three sons; Kevin, her middle son of Airdrie; Coral of Calgary with her son Kaiden; and Kirby also from Calgary, her youngest son and his daughter. She was Predeceased by her parents John and Marjorie Floyd.

She was a proud member of AA. This May she would have celebrated her 53rd year of sobriety. She helped many on their roads to recovery, never faltered on her duty to help others, always had a pot of coffee going and a big book on hand.

She was a pseudo mom to many people, she wore it as a badge of honour and would take in anyone to help them out. Our house was hardly ever empty. She loved the holiday season, worked very hard to make everyone happy.

She worked different jobs throughout her life; with the one that I think she loved the most being homecare around Calgary. She loved her clients and just making sure they all had what they needed to be comfortable in their homes.

Heather and I were kindred spirits. When we fought we fought and when we were kind you had to earn it
I am so sorry I didn't get to visit with her before she went to sleep. Goodnight night Heather
See you soon.

I have too many memories to choose from, but one will stand out forever, I had been diagnosed with my MS in 2005. I went to her place that afternoon and cried in her arms for a long time as I was feeling such loss of my old life and abilities. Heather held my hand as I cried and said we would get through this together. You will never have to fight this alone, and I never did. Blessings to all she loved 🥰

I will miss you forever mom. You always supported those around you and propelled them to success. You were down to earth, never faltered in your love and commitment to others. You deserve the peace that heaven provides. You children and grandchildren are your gifts to the world and they will always feel your love. Rest in Peace.
