Born in Calgary, AB
Passed in Calgary, AB
Heidi Hurson (nee Gutowski)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Heidi Lynne Hurson announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Heidi fought a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Heidi was born in Calgary, Alberta. Growing up, Heidi made friends easily, welcoming everyone into her circle. In high school, a part-time job at IGA introduced her to Laura, Katie and Kristin — three friends with whom she formed a lifelong inseparable bond. Over the years, “The Golden Girls” would share many laughs and milestones.

Heidi attended Mount Royal College and received a degree in Culture and Communications from the University of Calgary. She worked at Spartan Controls at the time of her passing.

In 2007, Heidi met her best friend and the love of her life, Jason Hurson. Together, they would build a loving home in Airdrie and raise three beautiful children — Avery, Lachlan and Harper. In 2018, Heidi and Jay said “I do” in Huatulco, Mexico at a joyful celebration with family and friends.

Heidi, Jay and the kids shared many special moments together, from the kids’ sporting events to camping trips. Heidi loved making memories at the family acreage in Sundre, playing games, sharing meals and enjoying evenings around the campfire.

Heidi radiated warmth and kindness. She lit up every room with her loving nature, light-hearted humor and unforgettable smile. She leaves a vast emptiness in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

Heidi is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jason; children, Avery, Lachlan and Harper; mother, Lynne Larkin (John Knobben); father, John Gutowski; stepfather, Philip (Carrie) Larkin; brothers, John (Julie) Gutowski and Matthew Larkin (AdisonWiberg); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Jasmine Hurson; brother-in-law, Oscar (Kylie Madge); nieces and nephews, Madison, Claire, Caleb, Brittany, Xavier and Jasmine; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossfield & District Community Hall (900 Mountain Ave) in Crossfield, Alberta on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dulcina Hospice @ https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/80977?v2=true  (select “03 – Facility: St. Marguerite Manor – Dulcina Hospice – Calgary” from the “Fund” drop-down menu).

My dear friend Heidi. You left too soon. I remember when we became friends in high school. So many good times, and we were always there for each other. Funny sleepovers where we’d dance to “return of the Mack” and sing to Brandy's “the boy is mine.” Getting our ear ring together in grade 10 which I still have to this day. So many memories I will cherish always. Walking our first born boys in their strollers to Starbucks, celebrating our stagettes and weddings. Although moving to Drumheller in 2012 for 4 years brought us apart a little. But when we chatted or visited, it was like we picked up right where we were. I wish I had more time to spend with you. Our lives became so busy with work, family, kids, school and sports. We forget to see our close friends at times. May you rest in peace, and I’ll forever remember all the memories we shared. Miss you Heidi.

We were very sad to hear of Heidi‘s passing. During high school, she became good friends with our daughter, Diana Ditchfield. They shared many happy times together. They both became first time mothers around the same time. When Heidi was living in Coventry Hills and my daughter as well, they would spend many hours together with their new baby boys.

Our sincerest condolences to all of Heidi’s family. She was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and we pray that she will rest in eternal peace.

I remember playing with you when you were small in that little townhouse, and then the big house… you were gentle and beautiful in your quiet spirit. I always enjoyed being there with you and your brother. May you rest in peace, prayers for those you left behind.

Heidi was a wonderful person and I was so lucky to have met her. I also worked with her at IGA along side Katie, Laura and Kristin. ❤️ She was taken from everyone way to young.

My condolences go out to all of her family and friends. May she rest in peace. ❤️❤️
