Helen Evelyn Walsh

October 24th, 1932 - August 8th, 2024
Helen Evelyn Walsh

Our beloved Helen, left us on Thursday, August 8, 2024 with family by her side.

Helen was born in McTaggart, Saskatchewan on October 24, 1932. She married Loris Walsh in March, 1956 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and moved to Madden, Alberta where they raised 4 children, Debra, Harley (Vivian), Brenda (Lorne), and Richard (Linda). Loris passed away in February, 1994. Helen is survived by 5 grandchildren, Kirk, Nicole, Jennifer, Eric and Kendall and 4 great-grandchildren, Liam, Harley, Logan and Daxson. Helen is also survived by her brothers and sisters, James, Dan, Harry, Aaron, Linda, Eileen, Marlene, Anne, Cathy and Shirley.

Helen devoted her life to her family and enjoyed working alongside Loris on the farm while raising their family. Helen worked for many years as the head cook at the Rocky View Lodge in Crossfield where she was well known for her cooking and baking. During that time, the family farm diversified into what is now the Beaver Dam Golf Course and RV Park. After retirement, from the Rocky View Lodge, Helen spent 21 years helping out at the Sandwedge Deli at the Beaverdam Golf Course where she was well known for her baking and well loved by many members and staff.

Helen began her journey with dementia when she was in her late 80’s and continued to live and be cared for by family in her home in Madden until October 2022 where she was lovingly cared for by the Airdrie Community Care staff. Her family continued to be with her every day until her passing on August 8, 2024.

How lucky are we to have had someone in our life that such a void and heartache is felt when they leave us for heaven. Her memories will live on in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at the Madden Community Hall (Range Rd. 30) on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM.  A private family inurnment will be held at Crossfield Cemetery.

Helen was always so kind and loving. My mother, Janet Noonan considered Helen her best friend so I knew without a doubt I was loved. I’m sorry for the family’s loss, I cry with you as I remember fond loving memories. May God bless the family! I may live very far away but my heart will always be in Alberta. Love, Sheree from southeast coastal Georgia.
