Hendrika 'Rita' de Graaf (nee Hutjes)

Rita passed away peacefully in Sundre Hospital, on Monday, May 13, 2024.  She is lovingly remembered by her family; the late Peter de Graaf; and five chidren, Patricia (Craig Stewart), Diana (Peter) Kleinloog, Michael (Teresa), Carroll de Graaf (Dick Grainger), and John (Margaret); 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and many relatives in Holland. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peter and Rita immigrated to Canada in 1954 where they raised their family in Calgary and Springbank. In 1978, they moved to Elkton where they had hay and cattle. We extend grateful thanks to the wonderful and supportive staff at the Sundre Seniors Supportive Living facility where Rita spent the last 11 months of her life. We also want to thank the Sundre Hospital and all the staff for their excellent care of her always and especially at the end of life. A Celebration of Rita's Life will be held at the Bergen Missionary Church, one mile west of the intersection of Highway 760 and Twp Road 320, Bergen, AB on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Rita's memory to S.T.A.R.S., Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Calgary, AB, T2E 8M7.
