Hugh O'Rourke

Hugh Charles O’Rourke passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, May 13, 2023, with family at his side, at the age of 71.

Hugh was the cherished and loving partner of the late Lynda Malick (2016), dear Father to Lori (Tom) Donnelly and Kirk Malick, and GG to Chance.

He was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret O’Rourke. He is survived by his siblings, Elizabeth (Judy) Scott (Clifford 1997), Margaret & Don Tuck, and Bob & Beverly O’Rourke; many nieces and nephews; the Bendfeld family and an abundance of friends.

Hugh worked for CRA for 33 years and once retired, became the Woodside Golf Course Marshall for several years and then worked at the Beaver Dam Golf Course Pro Shop until his passing.

Hugh enjoyed spending his days with friends and family on the golf course as much as he could, and especially loved his annual golf trips with friends to Palm Springs, California since 2007, where he got a hole-in-one at the Indian #2 Golf Course on February 29, 2012.

Hugh’s father, Hugh Charles O’Rourke Sr., was a veteran of WWII who served with the Essex Scottish and the Queens Own Rifles, and Hugh was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch 197 since 1975.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made in Hugh’s memory to the Alberta Golf - Junior Golf Fund.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Crossfield Community Hall, Crossfield, Alberta in Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:00am. Cremation has taken place.
