Jean Frizzell

J.E. Jean Frizzell of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her girls, Barbara, and Bev and Jane. After the loss of her husband Reg in 2022, and one daughter Linda in 2023, she often said that she had a broken heart and ultimately those losses were too much for her. Jean was born in Calgary, the eldest sister to Fran and Marlene. Her family also spent time in Edmonton, Prince Albert, and Moose Jaw. It was in Moose Jaw that she met Reg, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They moved back to Calgary in 1969 to settle down and raise their three daughters. Jean worked in many different industries over the years, including telecommunications, the government, and retail. However, her greatest joy was connecting with people. She gathered many lifelong friends through the years, stemming back to her time in high school. She volunteered at the Huntington Hills Community Centre for years. She bowled, played handbells, enjoyed going out for meals, and was always up for a family trip. She took up golf in her late 60s so the family could play together, she took up snorkeling at 75, and went ziplining at 78 on a trip to Roatan. Jean and Reg also camped, enjoyed bird-watching, and just spending time in the backyard with family. Until the end, she remained loving, curious, and social. She was a role model for living life to the end, and she will be missed very much by family and friends. Thank you so much to the staff and residents at Cambridge Manor who made her last year a happy and active one. To honour Jean’s love of her many grand-dogs, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the animal charity of your choice. A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Seasons of Bowness Park on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Seasons of Bowness Park is located in historic Bowness Park, 8900 48 Avenue Northwest, Calgary, AB T3B 2B2. As you enter the park, the restaurant is on your right, located on the edge of the lagoon. There is plenty of free parking and the building is wheelchair accessible. www.seasonsofbownesspark.ca

Always loved to hear about your mom's adventures. And because of her kindness, we were the happy recipients of some of her wonderful baking over the years. Thinking of you all and wishing you peace and warm memories.

Dear Barbie, Bev, & Jane, My deepest condolences in the loss of your Mom. Whenever I talked to Jean, she always commented that she was well taken care of by her “Girls”. Our foursome is now broken, but we take comfort in knowing that she has reunited with Reg & Linda. I just know that she is up there trying to get a Bingo game organized. We all have such special memories to remember a very special lady. Big Hugs & Love to you very special “Girls”❤️

Jean was sooo pleasant and friendly!!’, that big smile was always there!!!

We met at Save On as we came up from the parkade and she like me, introduced ourselves and here we both lived at “Maple”!!, we shared a bit of ourselves and it seemed to be an instant friendship!

Even when she moved into Cambridge, we would greet each other like
“Old” friends!!! Such a sweet person!!

I got to meet her daughters, and you girls will have so many pleasant memories of “Mom”!!!!

RIP Jean!!!
