It
is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeff Smith on Thursday,
December 7, 2023, at the age of 49 in Calgary, AB, with family by his side.
He
is lovingly remembered by his loving partner of 10 years, Rita-Kath and his
beloved daughter, Lillian. He will be missed greatly by his parents, Sherry and
Rob Orton; his brother, Will; his best friend of 40 years, Troy Sabourin; as
well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew and nieces. He was predeceased by his nan and poppa,
Lillian and Paul Smith; as well as his aunt, Connie.
Jeff’s
love of music will live on within all of us and he will be sadly missed by
those that loved him.
A
private family Inurnment will take place in Ontario, in the spring or summer of
2024.

Jeff was a long term part of my life, and far more so to his best friend Troy.
The misadventures and escapades they'd recount with laughter are genuinely heartwarming.
Popping up throughout my adult years as friend, Jeff was loyal and loving. I knew him to value family above all.
It was most certainly with happiness and pride that he built his life as partner and father.
One of the things I liked best about Jeff was his love of music, to make it or listen.
Our taste in music didn't always align (Crue ) but we did both appreciate Warren Zevon.
Jeffy, dear sweet friend, I hope you enjoyed every sandwich.

I met Jeff through Troy in the Kitchener area many years ago. When I saw the above picture, it was exactly how he was when ever we hung out. The stories that Troy had told me about their earlier years in Smith Falls had me rolling on the ground with laughter. The above picture reminds me of the time Jeff, Troy, Val and me drove to Buffalo to see The Winery Dogs. When going through customs the customs officer peered into the back seat and said to Jeff "Hey Hollywood, take off the shades". I'll miss him but the memories he left with me will always make me smile......

We went to St. Francis de Sales school together, we hung out a lot, and he will be missed. Condolences to his family.

My very deepest condolences to Sherry, Rob, Lillian, Rita, and Will, as well as the rest of the family. Jeff was much loved by his family and his friends. He is with his angels now. God Bless and Rest in Peace
