Jeremy Colwell

It is with heavy hearts that the loved ones of Jeremy Matthew Colwell, announce his sudden passing on Thursday, October 19th, 2023 .

Jeremy was born on July 22nd, 1973, at Foothills Hospital, in Calgary, to Dave and Carole Colwell. His earliest years were spent in Ottawa, Yellowknife, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Jeremy's Junior and Senior High years, and early adulthood, were spent primarily in Red Deer, where from the age of 12, Jeremy began to form lasting friendships that have persisted throughout his life. Jeremy pursued, and was successful, in several career fields, before launching his most recent passion. A business with a strong social conscience that he began to build in 2021.

Jeremy was the light of our lives. He shone brightly showing kindness to everyone around him, always. He was pure light, and his most recent business, was aptly named Pure Light Style. Even in death, the love and dedication to Jeremy's business was evident. Jeremy was in fact, recognized by his local business community as the recipient of the Emerging Business award. It is poetically tragic that Jeremy was unable to attend that ceremony, due to his passing several hours earlier.

Jeremy's life was a tapestry of blended families. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Carole Townsend and Tom and Sylvia Herriman; his siblings, Elissa Carpenter, Stacey Smith, Kayd Herriman, Rob Herriman, as well as Blake and Craig Colwell. Jeremy was a beloved Uncle to Dylan Carpenter and Timothy Smith. He leaves behind cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, to numerous to name.

Jeremy was predeceased by his natural father, David Colwell; his step-brother, Will Horner; and his nephew, Evan Carpenter. Family is confident Uncle Jer and Ev have reunited, and have resumed rocking out together to Guns n Roses.

Jeremy believed in operating a socially responsible business, and in giving back to his community. In lieu of flowers he asked that anyone who wishes to donate consider the following organizations

Jeremy joined our chamber a year ago, and was a staple at many of our events, always personable and eager to help and support others without expecting anything in return. He was making great connections and his business was really taking off.

The Emerging Business Award is presented to a new business showing success, and demonstrates a connection to the Airdrie community. Jeremy was very deserving of this award and was extremely honoured to be a finalist in this category. We know that he would have been both humbled and thrilled to receive his award.

We give our sincere condolences to his family and friends. We will miss him dearly.

Jeremy, our nephew, was very precious to our family. He and I shared numerous coffee dates, long chats, we had a tight bond. Gabe and Jeremy would talk endlessly about building both being involved in trades. He had the most contagious smile and bright eyes, literally was the bright light of life. He will be missed but never ever forgotten. Jeremy was the most honest loving person, I had the honour to be a part of his short life. He was raised by wonderful loving parents, siblings and friends. Our condolences go out to them all.

We have known Jeremy as our nephew since he was a young child, along with his younger sister Elissa, since his father Dave married my sister, Valerie. Watching him grow to a young man, I was always impressed with his entrepreneurial nature, forming companies such as Piller to Post, home inspections, to his final endeavor, Pure Light Style. A special spirit gone way too early.
