Jessica Leah Gano

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessica Leah Gano on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 47. She will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Lonnie Braybrook; her two cherished children, Ruby and Will; and her parents, Joy and Larry Gano.

Jessica is lovingly remembered by and will be greatly missed by her siblings and families, Troy (Jessica) Gano, and their children Jasper, Huxley, and Tred; Tyson (Elise) Gano, and their children Tristan, Merit, and Ivy; and Janine (Chris) Cardiff, and their children Declan and Callie. She will also be lovingly remembered by Lonnie’s family, his mother, Wanda Braybrook; his sister, Tanis Braybrook; his brother, Jessie (Melissa) Braybrook, and their children Charlie, Copper, and Lauren.

Jessica was predeceased by her grandfather, Alton Gano; her uncle, Harvey Fyten; and her grandmother, Lorna Gano.

Jess was a bright light—free-spirited, warm, and unfailingly encouraging. She loved the outdoors and sought a simple, meaningful life grounded in nature and in the love of friends, family, and everyone she met. A gifted athlete, she excelled in school sports, loved water activities, and developed a passion for rock climbing, ice climbing, and spending time in the mountains.

Her love for the outdoors led her to pursue an Outdoor Pursuits diploma at Mount Royal University. She later completed a Kinesiology degree at the University of Lethbridge, and in time returned to earn her Nursing degree at the University of Calgary. Jessica worked at the Sundre Hospital and later for the Central Health Region. She loved her work deeply and was devoted to helping others live healthier, better lives.

Jess reconnected with Lonnie—whom she had known from school—in 2014. They made their home near Sundre, Alberta, and welcomed their first child, Ruby, in 2014, followed by Will in 2016. Lonnie’s sister, Tanis, shared: “I am so deeply grateful that Jess came into our family and blessed me with the sister I never had. Though we weren’t blood, she always made me feel as if we were. Jess was one of the sweetest, kindest souls anyone could ever hope to welcome into their family, and I will cherish the love and connection we shared.”

The family is profoundly grateful for the support of friends and community during this difficult time. From meals to garden cleanup to help around the house, your kindness has meant more than words can express. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to the staff at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre for their compassion and care.

A Celebration of Life to honour Jessica will be held at Cremona Community Hall, 302 Centre St, Cremona, AB T0M 0R0 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

I recall Jessica as a generous and warm student ,community minded lady , and caring family member.
While house sitting for Joy and Larry a couple of years ago ,we enjoyed visits when she came to help with chores.
