In 1983 I was assigned to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as the unions officer
I met Joan Headley a Cletical Officer and a member of the union From that moment we worked as a team and brought many changes at the Hospital. At that time QEH had 2 ,500 employees with over 20 departments. Joan , along with Hyacinth Grimes Pam Sealy Vivian Sealy shaped that Hospital Joan was promoted to work in the Procurement Department. Through strict practices and Joan was able to put strict protocols in place ,reducing wastage. Joan served on many committees. Executive National Council, Shop Steward Council, women's Affairs Committee to name a few. When the Council tried to dismiss Bro Goddard , General Secretary, I remember Joan came to the office and told me to bring all the files on the issue and close the door. It brought to mind when Elijah told the widow to go fill the jars and close the door. End result Bro. Goddard was returned to work. Joan had many talents. She loved singing., lecturing at courses, representing the union on overseas conferences Dearest to my heart, is her willingness and readiness to help whenever the need arises. The Anglican Churches had a competition for the children. My daughter entered
She wrote a short essay that receive high remarks. The song she submitted was the Alerbaster Box. Joan took her under her wings and trained her Ramona placed 2nd. To Claire and family, continue to be strong . Joan will always be in hearts πŸ’•

Aunty Joan I am grateful to God for giving us you. I wished we had more time with you but I am comforted by the fact that you have instilled in us the ability to trust and have faith in God’s work, as well as the ability to soothe ourselves with His word in times of sadness and joy.
