In Memory
Joan McNabb

Joan McNabb passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023, in Red Deer, Alberta, with family by her side. Joan was born to Bill and Irene Schultz on May 21, 1938.
Joan grew up in Forestburg, Alberta. She later moved to Red Deer, Alberta, where she raised her children, and began her culinary and hospitality career.
Joan’s passion was cooking, and she would often say, “I’m a cook, not a chef”, but many would argue this statement. She welcomed many into her home on a regular basis to enjoy her delicious homemade meals, especially during any holiday season. If Joan knew someone was going to be alone during a holiday, she just wouldn’t hear of it, and her and her family would welcome them in. At Christmas, there would be a gift or two under the tree for them as well. She had a big heart.
Joan enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, knitting, reading books, playing cards, playing bingo, and travelling around Canada and the United States. She always looked forward to getting together with family and friends to share laughs with, and make memories for her grandchildren.
Joan is lovingly remembered by three daughters, Beverly Thompson, Kelly McNabb, and Tami-Jo (Clint) Pidherney; nine grandchildren, Billy (Kaillie) Thompson, and Wyatt Thompson, Tiffany (Adam) Hewitt, Kel-Cie (Phil) Fercho, and Jeremy Terpstra, Autumn (Caylan) Eslinger, Autavia (Matt) Rodgers, Sheyde Pidherney, and Chandler Pidherney; eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hailey, Charlie, Jack, James, Liam, Richard, Malachy, Brielle, Hazel and Vera. Joan is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Irene. Two sons, Mickey and Jerry. Brother, Keith and sister-in law Paulette. Nephew Dwight, and special friend, Norman.
By Joan’s request there will not be a public service. The immediate family will gather for a Celebration of Life.
Joan will be fondly remembered, greatly missed and forever loved.
