In Memory
Joanna Lydia Marsey (Blackmore)
Much to her annoyance, Joanna passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at the age of 95.
Leaving behind “Her Darlings” ~ her daughter Elizabeth I. Deans and her grandson Jayme W.R. Deans.
Other than that, “She wouldn’t change a thing!”
Schooled in England and always, inspired by the magic of it, she was an accomplished artist. For several years having a blast on Stephen Avenue during Stampede, creating and selling works from her kiosk. Showing, selling and belonging to several art organizations under the name “Lydia Watercolors”.
Her free spirit and sense of adventure allowed her to travel and live all over the world. With an extensive art scene, but not because of, Paris, France was one of her favourite places, embracing the entire culture. Alberta being another and final favourite where she loved the mountains, the picturesque snow and vast landscapes.
Never having regrets or caring about consequences allowed her to live life to the fullest. Her spice and strong opinions allowed her to always be honest, whether you appreciated that or not. Quick to raise a glass of rosé and “cheers!” to almost anything, she loved laughter and a good time. Being generous, liking the finer things in life, knowing when to splurge, allowed her to reiterate her favourite saying “it’s only money”.
Always reaching out with all her heart, she truly cherished her family, as she will always be.
Love you always xx
