It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Stonebanks, a beloved mother, Nana, Granna, daughter, sister, auntie, and cherished friend to many.
Joan was born in North Shields, England, and later immigrated to Canada with her husband, Ray, and their children, Karen and Phillip. A multi-talented and family-oriented woman, Joan’s life was rich with love, adventure, and dedication to those she held dear. She had a passion for sports, gardening, and travel, and was always ready for a game or a challenge. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Joan was predeceased by Ray (2023), her sons Paul (1958) and Phillip (2024), and her much-loved granddaughter Nicole (2009). She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen Creig; grandson, David Creig (Lynda); her adored great-grandchildren, Callum, Liam, and Ainsley, all of Calgary; her sister, Edna; and nieces, nephews and extended family in England. Joan also leaves behind her very special and deeply loved partner, Erik Jorgensen, who brought joy and companionship to her for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 22 Harvest Hills Alliance Church, 10099 Harvest Hills Blvd. NW, Calgary at 1:00 PM. A light reception will follow, and all are welcome to attend as we gather to celebrate Joan’s remarkable life. She will be forever missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
