December 2nd, 1946 - April 9th, 2024
John Baxter

Baxter, John McKee known amongst his Scottish family as Jack, was born in Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland on December 2, 1946. He was the second and youngest son of John Marshall Baxter and Christina Baxter (nee McKee). He died at home in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in his 78th year. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Donna; and his three children; and six grandchildren; Christina (Scott) Laughlin, Leland, Loic-Robin and Lindy-Rose; Andrew (Erin), Meghan and Joanna, Ian, his brother, Matt (Elma), and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was pre-deceased by his parents.

In May of 1970, John immigrated from Scotland to Canada. He enjoyed playing the tenor drum with the West Coast Highlanders Pipe Band of Port Alberni, BC. He was also an avid Motorcycle enthusiast. He became a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association in Calgary, enjoying many rides with them throughout Alberta. The neighbours in Deer Valley Villas were all dear to him providing opportunities for conversation and story telling. He enjoyed serving on the Board, as the Maintenance person.

His wife and family would like to thank the medical and support staff of the Rockyview General Hospital and also the Foothills Medical Centre for the excellent and attentive care he received during the six weeks he was hospitalized in 2023. The nurse practitioners who cared for him after his heart surgery were kind, caring, and encouraging.

On Friday, May 3rd at 10:30 am the funeral procession will gather at the parking lot of the Sonrise Community Baptist Church. John will be buried in the Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery at 11:00am with a Memorial to follow at 1:00pm in the Sonrise Community Baptist Church.
