John Miskow

JOHN (Jach) passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18th at the age of 98. Beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather and great Uncle. Lovingly remembered by his son, Gordie (Marina); granddaughter, Sheila (Tim) Morley; grandsons, Dennis (Lyndsey), Jamie (Tiffany), Jason (Charie), great-grandchildren, Grace, Max and Nathan; and great niece, Cindy Krowchuk.

John was predeceased by wife of 44 years Madge; his son, John; parents, Anderew and Barbara; brothers, Pete and Joe; sisters, Anne (Krowchuk) and Mary (Allan) and partner, Beverly Lockwood.

At the age of 16, Dad drove the team of horses delivering groceries for the Canmore Mining Company store. He then moved onto Canmore Mines as a miner, lamphouse attendant, and #3 power house attendant. After the mine closed down in 1979, he went to the Banff Springs Hotel and worked as maintenance worker, and then on to Simpson's Car wash.

Many thanks to Brentwood InterCare Center's staff and nurses, the Bow River lodge staff and nurses, Drs John Michalyshyn and Catherine Hinds for their care and compassion. Many thanks to special friends Beatrice, Diane, and Terry, Flint Simpson, Kerry Kaleta and the coffee gang at A&W.

At dad's request there will be no services. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of choice.

Gord and Marina, 98 Years! That is an amazing long time for dad to keep smiling... and they say smiles are contagious. To think how many people smiled because of your father and it kept it going... So sorry for the loss of your father and father-in-law. His spirit lives on through his beautiful family.

I have nothing but warm memories of Jach. My own history of being a friend began long ago when our families were neighbours living in the "Horseshoe". Jach was one of the rarest of the rare, impossible not to like. His smile and kind nature were infectious. To Gordie and his family we offer our condolences.
