John Wayne Brookwell
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Wayne Brookwell on June 29, 2024, in Red Deer, Alberta. John was born on June 28, 1954, in Calgary, Alberta.

John fought a long battle with cancer and showed strength, courage, determination and faith till the end.

He is survived by his wife Gaynor Jones, daughters Nicole and Rhiannon, step sons Bryce and Rhys. His grandson Riley, sister Sheryl, niece Kira and grand niece Aurora. His Brother in law David Jones and his nieces Oceana, Jazzmyn and nephew Meryk. Also our loving and intensely supportive Aunt Lesley, who lives half a world away who was there for us day and night and cheered us on through every dark moment❤️

John had many lifelong friends he considered his family and “Brothers”.  He was well liked and respected by his co-workers and loved his job at the Foothills Hospital, and the many years he spent working at Wholesale Sports and at the Calgary Stampede. John made many friends over the years everywhere he went. He was easy-going, funny, approachable and a lovely human being.

John had a love of learning and many hobbies. Karate, radio controlled planes and cars, snorkelling, diving, hunting, fishing, camping, quadding, guitars and so much more.

He embraced life with an open heart, joy and a positive attitude. John was a loving, kind, laid back person. John was very well liked and respected, had a great sense of humour and enjoyed life and everything it had to offer.

His loss will be felt by all that knew him, he will be forever missed but not forgotten, and always in our hearts.❤️❤️❤️

I would like to thank all the staff at both the Innisfail and Red Deer Hospitals, Red Deer Cancer Centre, the Community Paramedics and Homecare people who provided the greatest and most dedicated care for John.

Also all the support of our wonderful family, friends and neighbours who helped us through this journey. We love and appreciate you all more than words can say❤️

A Celebration of Life will be held at Spruce View Community Hall, located at 2127, AB-54, Spruce View, AB T0M 1V0, on August 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. John will be forever missed but not forgotten, and always in our hearts. ❤️❤️❤️

John will be missed not just for his great wit, humour and cheeky smile, but for his knowledge and resourcefulness. Also lso for his dignity especially over the last 18 months. Where perseverance and strength came from within to carry on the fight. He was a hero to us all.
He was a true gentleman but was also a gentle man both in speech and nature.
He was loved by all who knew him.
Rest in peace and love John ❤️

Had the privilege of working alongside John for 20 years. Don't think I know of anyone with more in-depth knowledge of x-ray equipment than John. His skills in troubleshooting were un-matched. John's Presence is greatly missed at the Foothills Medical Center by all who worked with him. Especially remember John's cheery demeaner and quick witt, making good laughs to lift our spirits. Miss you John, may we meet again.

I had the greatest gift of sharing this amazing man's life for the past 20 years. Of being loved by him and loving him in return. He was my husband and my best friend and I miss him every moment of every day. But I know that we will meet again. Till then I will love you always and forever, my Johnny🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️
