Joyce Paton

Joyce (nee Malcolm) Paton passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 88.

Lovingly called “Nana” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is remembered by her daughter, Teri (Conrad); son, David; grandsons, Justin (Melissa) and Chad; great-grandsons, Luke, Carter, and Liam. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom; parents, Charles and Isabella Malcolm; her sisters, Grace (Bill) and Jean (Joe); brothers, Chuck (Eileen) and John (Rhea) and her daughter-in-law, Ivette Paton.

Joyce was born and raised in Edmonton where she met and married Tom. Early in their marriage in the fifties, they decided to chase the California dream and lived there for 20 years. Joyce stayed at home when the children were young and then worked as a real estate agent when they were in school. Once Joyce and Tom moved back to Alberta, Joyce worked as an administrative assistant at the Core Research Center for the Energy Resources Conservation Board. In the early years with their children, Joyce and Tom discovered the joy of camping in an RV. There are many memories of camping in the mountains with the children, grandchildren, and then great-grandchildren. After they retired, Joyce and Tom decided that they enjoyed traveling so much that they sold their apartment and took up living in their fifth wheel trailer full time. Their favorite places were Las Vegas and Kelowna, but home was always considered to be the Calgary area. In 2016, Joyce and Tom settled in Airdrie to be closer to the family.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at Airdrie Care Community. Their kindness and compassion shown towards Nana is greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
