Kathy Ward, at 51 years young, passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, July 9th surrounded by her loved ones. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend, Dwayne; her daughter, Karis; her mother, Sharon Lewis; her sister, Joanne Lewis (Dave McMahon); her brother, Keith Lewis (Mary Lewis); her beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends.

Born and raised in Bishop’s Falls, NL, Kathy moved to Alberta with her husband, Dwayne in September 2000. Five years later they welcomed their pride and joy, Karis. Kathy was a devoted mother whose love and care for her family was truly inspiring. She cherished her time spent reading the Bible with her husband and daughter, finding strength and guidance in these shared moments, renewing and deepening their faith together. Her unwavering dedication to God and her family provided a strong foundation for those she loved. Kathy had a passion for the outdoors, often traveling to the mountains and spending time camping with her loved ones. Her presence was a source of joy, laughter, and smiles. Her legacy of love, kindness, faith in God, and devotion will forever be remembered and treasured by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends their gratitude to the Airdrie Palliative Care Team and the Concierge Care Team for their compassionate support, allowing Kathy to spend her final days at home with her husband, daughter, close family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed money, time, food, treats, and flowers during this challenging time. Your support and kindness have provided immense comfort and strength. It is the peace of God and the unwavering support of family and friends that helped them through this period of loss and will continue to be a source of strength as they navigate the grief of losing their beloved mother and wife.

A Funeral Service will be held at Crossfield Baptist Church, located at 285176 AB-2, Crossfield, AB, on Tuesday, July 16th at 1:00 pm.

We are so sorry we could not be there Dwayne and Karis. Still cannot believe this has happened. There are no words to describe how much Kathy will be missed! She was always there whenever we needed to talk to, supportive and nonjudgmental. One of the most amazing people we have had the pleasure to call family. So thankful for the time we had!

I would like to send my sincere condolences to all who knew and loved my dear, precious cousin, Kathy. My heart truly aches for her family, especially for her husband, Dwayne and daughter, Karis.

I have such fond memories of spending time with Kathy when we were young children living in Corner Brook, and then as teenagers in Bishop’s Falls.
Kathy was a very warm, kind-hearted person who always made you feel comfortable and welcomed when around her. She truly had a heart of gold. She cared deeply for those close to her, especially Dwayne, the one and only true love of her life. I fondly remember having the privilege of the two love birds staying at our home near Montreal as they were travelling from Newfoundland to begin a new life in Alberta. In the morning, as we were preparing breakfast, Kathy asked if we would kindly omit black pepper from the scrambled eggs, because her “lovey” didn’t like pepper with eggs. Kathy always had Dwayne’s interests at heart, thoroughly adored and praised his musical talents, and loved him immensely. They truly shared a love that was special and it was clearly evident to those who spent any time around them.
Unfortunately, over the years, Kathy and I lost touch as distance prevented us from spending any time together.
However, we recently reconnected through messenger and Kathy shared with me that her love for the Lord had been rekindled and she and her family had started reading the Bible together. With tremendous pride and joy, she also lovingly boasted how her daughter Karis had grown into a wonderful young lady and it became apparent to me that the immense love she so freely gave to Dwayne, she also showered on her only child.
Kathy will forever be loved and remembered for the kind, special soul she was. It’s terribly hard to say goodbye, but I’m so very thankful for the blessed hope of eternal life where one day we will joyously meet again in the sweet presence of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
I love you my dear cousin…. Until we meet again,
Sonya

I've erase this message about a dozen times. .How do I sum up a life long friendship. And i've come to the conclusion , I can't. Kathy, and I have been friends since high school. We may not have seen each other every
Day but we always had our long chats on the phone. We would always call each other when we needed advice. I will so miss our chats.
