Kenneth Janigo

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Kenneth Janigo on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Lacombe Alberta. He was a devoted husband to Nita, a loving father to Linda (Barry) Tee and Rick (Carol) Janigo, and a beloved grandfather to Heather (George) Saganis, Colin (Tracy) Tee and Daniel Janigo and great-grandfather to Aiden and Ethan Saganis, and Charlie and Sawyer Tee. He was predeceased by his father, John Janigo Sr.; his mother, Lilly Janigo; and his brother, John Janigo Jr. Ken was born on November 8, 1931 in Nordegg and filled his younger years with schooling, sports, horseback riding and outdoor activities. He also worked underground in the mine as a driver. He later joined the Alberta Forest Service, where he remained until his retirement in 1988. In 1950 he met his wife Nita, while on a fishing trip to Goldeye Lake. On April 19, 1954, Ken and Nita were married and continued to live in Nordegg. In 1960 he transferred to Rocky Mountain House, where he remained until 2022 before moving to Lacombe. Ken will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his love of life, and his generous stories and recollections of the past. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Thank you to the staff of the Lacombe Extended Care Unit for enhancing his quality of life for the final year and a special thanks to Dr. Olivier for her exceptional care.

My sincere condolences to Nita, Linda and Rick and families.
So many memories of Ken, flood through my mind.
Meeting at DR 6, while waiting to be
transferred to a remote lookout.
The day I was in yard at Forestry Ware house ( a member of a standby crew )
Ken drove into yard, gets out and strides up to our group. With no uncertain question , he taps me on my chest, and explains, STEPHANSON ! Be at the radio room ( in main office down town ) Monday at 8 AM!
VERHESEN is going make an operator out of you! ( I was, he did )
It was in that setting, I really got to know all the office staff Especially KEN !
He often included me to ride along on fixed wing air craft patrols with him.
Over the later years, I always enjoyed a visit with them both.
One great couple I shall remember !
Sincerely
Stew

We are very saddened to learn of Ken's passing. Cecily worked at Forestry - I loved hearing his stories, leaning on the counter in the office, his wonderful smile and smiling eyes. The Boys in the back office - Ken, Ben, Floyd, and Art .. such wonderful, gentle men. Ken never lost his love of telling stories -he always had one, whenever we saw him and Nita in a grocery store. Sincere condolences to you Nita and all the family. Rocky Mountain House, AB
