Kenneth Krause

It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ken Krause just shy of his 90th birthday.

Ken was born and raised in Alberta.

Ken met the love of his life, Mary, in Edmonton and they were married in 1955.

Ken and Mary raised their family in various towns and cities in Alberta during Ken’s career with Alberta Gas Trunkline/Nova Corporation.  Once the children had completed their schooling, Ken and Mary moved out to Langley B.C. where Ken worked for the B.C. Government in the Pipelines division until his retirement, Ken and Mary moved back to Alberta in 2022.

Ken had a love for many sports. Ken and Mary curled for many years together in Carstairs.  If he was not participating in sports he was watching them!

Ken was a true “Jack” of all trades and had an incredible passion for cooking. He also always had a joke ready and enjoyed making everyone laugh.

Ken and Mary enjoyed many outings with friends and family. Most treasured were the summer vacations in Kelowna where there were fishing stories galore and cherished memories of just cruising Lake Okanogan or water skiing on the family boat.

And most recently he would get so excited to catch up with his Alberta buddies over lunch or coffee and swap stories from their “younger days”.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Mary; and his 6 children and their families, Wayne,  Rob,  Kathy,  Carrie (Alden),  Cheryl (Andy) and Darrell.

He was a fun loving grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Marge McKinnon, and numerous nieces & nephews and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ester and Albert Krause; his mother and father-in-law, Willam and Catherine Welby; his sister, Joyce Goodridge; his brothers-in-law, Bob Welby, Will Welby, Joe McKinnon and Ed Goodridge; his sister-in-law, Audrey Welby; as well his nephews, Teddy Welby, Danny McKinnon and Ron Welby.

As per Ken’s request a Family Service will be held a later date.

So sorry for your loss. Uncle Ken never failed to light up any room he was in. Something in the back of my memory recalls Uncle Ken on an Indian motorcycle. I was impressed as a young lad. If so, there must be a story!
