In Memory
Lane Winsor
It is with great sadness we
announce the sudden death of Lane Winsor at the age of 73. He will be dearly
missed by his wife Jennifer. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother,
Roy (Donna) Winsor of Watford, Ontario, Janine (Tim) Nyitrai, nephew, Jake and
nieces, Elle, Violet and Poppy of Calgary, Alberta.
Lane was predeceased by his
parents James and Jean Winsor of Watford, Ontario, as well as his first wife
Dana.
Lane was born in Chatham,
Ontario. At the age of 3 his family moved to a farm near Watford. He attended
Warwick Public School and East Lambton secondary School. His parents raised
milking Guernsey cows and Percheron horses. It was there that Lane became
interested in all aspects of farm machinery.
Around the age of 20, Lane
felt the calling to go out west. There he became a skilled millwright. His
trade eventually led him to a career with Canada Post, where he worked for 25
years until his retirement.
After retiring, Lane took
much enjoyment in tinkering around fixing things on his acreage in Rocky View
County. He also took much pride in his garden. Lane was also an avid reader and
went through many books in his lifetime. His most recent endeavour was becoming
an extra in the television series ‘Fargo’. His dog Thora and favourite cat Debbie
will sorrowfully feel his loss.
Lane was a devoted friend
and would never hesitate to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
Friends and family will
gather for a Celebration of Life, which will be announced at a later date.
Many thanks go out to the
EMS, Rocky View County Fire Department, RCMP and the Victim Assistance Society.
Special thanks to Jason Fazakas who was passing by and was kind enough to stop
and help Lane.
