Larry Douglas Pross

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather. Doug passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the age of 70. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years,Kim; his son, Justin Pross (Annie & Jonah); his daughter, Kayla Goerzen (Mike, Kenna & Emma), Trinity & Ayden Pross (Michelle Backstrom) and many more family and friends.

Doug was born in Olds, AB on September 26, 1952, to Lester and Mary Pross. Doug grew up in rural Didsbury, living north of town until he was about 10 and then moving to the farm west of Didsbury. Doug met his wife Kim, and they were married September 4, 1976. Doug and Kim had 2 children, Justin born in 1981 and followed by his daughter Kayla in 1987.

Doug spent his years trucking and working as a heavy-duty mechanic until his retirement in 2006. During retirement Doug enjoyed time with friends, riding his Goldwing and vacationing down south, but most of all, his greatest joy was spending his time with his children, grandchildren and having coffee with his friends.

Doug will be missed so very much but we take comfort in the fact that he is able to rest peacefully and be reunited with his mom, dad, his mother-in-law, Yvonne Sullivan and nephew Danny Scott.  We know he is enjoying a laugh and catching up on old times over a cup of coffee with his good friends Andy and Gary.

In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, 1331-29 St NW Calgary, AB T2N 4N2. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Doug was a great guy and always enjoyed time spent with him. He left me with an unforgettable memory of naming me ,The Green Leaker, because of my green KW and DD, Disneyland Diesel. He knew how to make you smile.

I will miss so many things about Doug especially the countless stories of our lives that only he remembered. He was the family historian and I am sad for we will miss the stories yet untold.

I will miss Doug’s stories, and he always kept me in the loop of my Doug’s trucker buddies, and he always took the time to say hello, and chat. He will be dearly missed by many💖. My sincere sympathies to all of Doug’s family.
