Lois May McCrackin

Lois May McCrackin (Goings) took her last breath on this earth at 7:30PM,  Friday, July 5th, 2024 at the age of 96, she passed very peacefully into the arms of her Saviour.

Lois was born May 20, 1928 in Rimbey to Edith and Glen Goings.  She was a wife, a mom, a grandma, an auntie, a great grandma, and a friend to many.

Lois married Harvey McCrackin on November 25, 1952 at Rimbey Nazarene Church.  Together they raised 2 children, Janis and Wayne, on a farm northwest of Rimbey. Besides helping run the dairy business, Lois gardened, baked, cooked many meals including for the men in the fields, had beautiful flower gardens, raised chickens, and had many dogs and cats over the years.

Lois was known for her beautiful alto singing voice, and sang at many funerals and weddings, as well as at church.  Lois was known for her beautiful chalk drawings, teaching Sunday School, leading VBS, as well as singing in the choir.

Eventually, Harvey and Lois sold the farm and moved into town in Rimbey, then later to Olds.  She spent her last 6 years at Parkvale Lodge in Red Deer where she made many friends, and was well looked after by the staff.

Lois and Harvey enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends, including Camp Harmattan and David Thompson Resort. They also enjoyed many  trips to Banff Springs Hotel with NIROGA (Nazarene seniors group), as well as trips to Hawaii, and Cuba.  A highlight for Lois was going to Cuba for her grand daughters wedding.

After Harvey passed, Lois and Janis enjoyed a trip to Maui, and Nova Scotia, along with many drives to the mountains.

Lois had many friends and family, and treated each one with love and respect.  She spent many hours praying for them all.  Lois had a strong and unwavering faith that she lived out in practical and beautiful ways.  Her example will be remembered often by both family and friends.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, Harvey; her biological mother, Edith Eaton; her step-mom, Edith Goings’ her father, Glen Goings; sister, Mary (Alver) Jensen; brother, Don (Dorothy) Goings; brother, Dale (Lauretta) Goings; sister-in-law, Margaret (Henry) Gusella;  brother-in-law, Eugene (Bertha) McCrackin; sons-in-law, Art Lewis and Floyd Hrappstead.

Lois is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Janis and her son, Wayne (Evelyn).  She is also lovingly remembered by her 4 grandchildren whom she cherished, Justin (Jessica), Erin, Michael (Tanya) and Rachelle (Alex).  Also missing their great-grandma are Grady, Ryan, Nathan, Kale, Rylan, Alexis, McKoy, Aubrey, Walker, and Ben. Each one had a special relationship with great grandma and she made them all feel so loved and important.   She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Rick (Gloria); and sisters-in -law, Dorothy and Lauretta, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

In memory of Lois, if friends desire, donations may be made to Camp Harmattan (campharmattan.com), or Hope Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene, Olds, (office@hopepointeolds.ca) both of which Lois loved and supported, and both of which impacted her life.
