Born in Calgary, AB
Passed in Calgary, AB
Lorna Mae Peters

Lorna Peters passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, in the morning of June 13, 2023 at the age of 88 years. She went to be with her son Brent who sadly passed away in 2020.

Lorna will be lovingly remembered, and greatly missed, by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Kim (Brett); daughter-in-law, Catherine; grandchildren, Cody (Nicolette) and Ian (Alexandra); great-grandchildren, Adison, Gabrielle, Charlotte, Willow and Calder; as well as countless friends will also miss her.

Lorna was born in Calgary and enjoyed music, skating, dancing and she told many stories but most of all her favorite times were spent with Doreen Milhousen, who is still a dear friend of hers.

She met Bill when she was working at Alberta National Drug in 1964 and they quickly knew they were right for each other.  They were married in 1969 and Lorna, Bill and Brent became a family.  They lived in Calgary; first living in Fairview and then in Deer Run.  Lorna met many people while working for Tamblyn Drugs, the Alberta Livestock Co-op, Alberta National Drug, Hanson Drugs, and helping at Calgary Food Equipment.  Their daughter Kim was born in August of 1972 and Lorna then stayed home taking care of Kim and spending time with her mother Marjorie.

Anyone who knew Lorna surely has some of her handiwork or has experienced her delicious baking.  Her passions and talents were doing crafts, listening to music, skating, dancing, camping, sewing, baking, cooking, cosmetology, and hair styling.  She enjoyed doing word searches, having picnics close to the water, and enjoyed meals and being together with her family and friends.  Her favorite activity was going for long drives where she could see any wildlife but her favorite was seeing bears.  She could quickly become friends with anyone she met and was a very generous soul.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lorna on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Acadia Recreation Centre Hall (main floor), 240 90th Avenue S.E., Calgary, Alberta.  Doors open at 1:30 pm, presentation will begin at 2:00 pm followed by light refreshments.  Donations can be made in memory of Lorna to a charity of your choice.

Warm hugs Bill, our hearts go out to you and your family at this tender time. Lorna's smile and her spontaneous laughter and wonderful sense of humor is how we shall always think of her. We still, and always will, see her waving hello through the window, or sitting on the deck, as we walk by the house heading out for a walk in the park. Can still hear her saying happy hello's to all the 'doggies', giggling at 'em all. Good times, wonderful memories. We are all so blessed to know you Lorna. Gentle journey sweet lady.

Just a few days ago my mother( Maria Sacco)and I were reflecting on friends and neighbours and Lorna’s name came up. My mother shared many stories of her kindness especially during the time of our grandfathers bout with cancer. She drove them for his treatments and kept my mom company during those times. We thought about how humorous she was and her zest for life! In time May memories of her bring you joy and happiness for a life well lived and remembered!

When I think of Lorna I will remember that twinkle in her eye; her wicked sense of humor, her zest for life, her love for family and her unique ability to make everyone a friend upon a first meeting. I will dearly miss hearing her say to me, "Here comes trouble", every time we gathered for a family event. She was a true force of nature. We will miss you so much! Never forgotten and always loved...rest in peace.
