Louise Mae Powell

December 25th, 1941 - July 28th, 2024
Louise Mae Powell

Lou passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at the age of 82.  She was a woman whose legacy of love of her family and friends, directness, and fiery strength has touched all of us.

Lou was a devoted mother to her two beloved sons, Steve and Tim Powell. To Steve and recently married to Kim, she was a constant source of information and guidance. Her joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, Megan and Cole, in whom she took immense pride. Lou’s spirit and wisdom were a cornerstone in their lives, her influence felt in every milestone and cherished memory.

Tim and his wife Sharon experienced Lou’s unwavering love and dedication firsthand. She handpicked Sharon to marry her son Tim. It was a good decision for all. They had their only child Jordyn, with whom she has enjoyed and cherished. Lou has been an always present grandmother and involved in the grandchildren’s lives whenever she could.

Lou’s journey was a very interesting one - born into a family of 13 children. Her life was not an easy path, she couldn’t wait to move out- and that’s exactly what she did, as soon as she was of age. She met Allister, when she had moved into the farm house in Egerton to take care of his frail mother. They developed a friendship which later turned to love. After 3 years, she gave him the chance, and never looked back.

Their marriage was one marked by profound love, shared with her beloved husband Allister. Their marriage, on July 12, 1963 spanning 40 beautiful years, was a testament to their deep bond and mutual respect. Allister and Lou navigated life’s joys and challenges together, creating a home filled with laughter, compassion, and an unbreakable spirit. Until he passed away, November 25, 2003.

In remembering Lou, we honor a woman who lived her life with fierce pride and generosity. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, touching friends and neighbors alike. She had a remarkable ability to be direct, and to offer wisdom and honesty that came from a hard lived life.

Though Lou has left this earthly realm, her spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who loved her. We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her dear Allister and other loved family members. Surrounded by the peace and love she so richly deserves.

As we say our goodbyes, let us celebrate Lou remarkable life. Let us carry forward her legacy by living with the same spirit, compassion, and strength that she exemplified every day.

Rest in peace, Lou. Your cherished memory will forever be a part of us all.
