Lucille Hagel

It is with deep sadness that the family of Lucille Anne Hagel announce her passing on March 7, 2026, at the age of 78 years, after a short illness.

Lucille will lovingly be remembered by her husband, John Hagel; her sons, Trevor, Tim (Jodi) Simonson; her brother, Wayne (Karen) Chase; as well as her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many close friends.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Eve Chase, whom she often spoke of and looked forward to seeing again.

Lucille moved to Airdrie in 1978, where she built a long and fulfilling career at TD Bank and made many lasting friendships and memories.

She married the love of her life, John Hagel in 1987. Together they built a wonderful life together which included travelling, church and volunteering. She enjoyed knitting, going out for dinner with family and friends, and cheering for her favourite football team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Lucille will be remembered for her strong spirit, sense of humour and the love she had for her family.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Balzac United Church, 10076 Highway 566, Balzac, AB on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at 10:30 AM.

Following the service, please join the family for snacks and refreshments.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

We are saddened at the loss of Lucille and regret being unable to attend her Memorial Service in Calgary. She was always kind and hospitable to us in the short time we knew her.
We will miss getting together for coffees and restaurants but would still invite you to stay in touch and feel free to visit us if you feel like driving here when the winter weather clears up! God bless you as you go through this difficult time. We will keep you in our prayers.

Lucille & I spent many an hour knitting/crocheting washcloths for Soap for Hope as well as Charity Connection. She was a huge supporter of The Airdrie Lioness Club (now the Airdrie 1st Club). Her bright light will be missed in the Community. Condolences to John & family.

We are just so saddened to hear of Lucille’s passing. We loved her spunk, amazing sense of humour and beautiful smile. It was always a delight when we had a chance to chat with both John and Lucille if we happened to be at the same place for brunch after church.
John, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find peace and comfort in the memories you hold dear to your heart.
Sincere condolences,
Joy and Terry Keogh
