In Memory
Lynden Wilfrid Lauber
December 12th, 1944 - January 18th, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lynden Wilfrid (Lyn) Lauber of Airdrie, Alberta at the age of 80 years on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the Peter Lougheed Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kitchener, Ontario he was the only son of the late Wilfrid & Edna (Gole) Lauber.
After completing Grade 13 in Ontario he ventured West to Regina for training to join the RCMP. In 1964 he graduated in Troop F with his first posting in Banff, Alberta. His whole service was in the Province of Alberta. In Calgary he was a member of the GIS Section where he lead a number of complex, high-profile criminal investigations. During this time, he was also a well respected member of the SWAT team. His final posting was in Red Deer where he retired as Sergeant in October 1988. He was offered a job in the oil and gas field so he and Linda moved to an acreage in Millarville where they lived for 2 years while looking for a farm to buy. Lyn grew up on a dairy farm and always wanted a farm of his own so in 1990 they purchased a quarter section 5 miles east of Airdrie and raised pure-bred Saler cattle all while still working in oil and gas. Lyn retired from Cenovus and went on to work part time at Bass Pro Shops in the fishing department where he finally retired for good.
Lyn is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; son, Will (Venessa); daughter, Diana (Eric); grandchildren, Megan (Luke), Max, Shannon and Tomas; step-grandchildren, Sydney, Matias, Desiray, Freya & Isla; as well as sisters, Jocelyn Lauber and Penny (Keith) Hubbard in Bright, Ontario along with many cousins and other relatives in Ontario. He was predeceased by his sisters, Becky and Heather.
Papa/Grampa will be dearly missed by all who loved him. At Lyn’s request there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I met Lynn in 1968 in Grecian Alberta. He was a young RCMP officer and I was a new nurse working at the Blackfoot Indian hospital. He had a wife and 2 children. I remember him fondly as a very kind and decent person. I remember his daughter Diana who was just a baby and later when his son was born my husband and I were his god parents. We lost connection so many years ago. I hope that his children are doing well. Lynn was a very fine person.

I was just trying to find Lyn's number to call him about moms death (Glenda Wright). So sorry amd condolences to everyone. Have very good memories of spending nights at their place and the black powder shoots. He was an amazing man! Dad before he passed went and spent i think like a month with him out in the country.

I met Lyn while employed with a company providing services to EnCana (Cenovus), and Lyn was my main contact. Through the many exciting and challenging up-and-down times in our industry, working together with Lyn was always pleasure. He was easy to connect with. No shortage of stories from Lyn! He was always focused on the matter at hand, but equally ready to share a laugh when it was needed. I'm thinking of Lyn and all his family and friends right now.
