Lynn Herrington

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynn Avice Herrington on Friday, April 21, 2023. She will be forever missed by her loving husband of forty years, Orville Herrington; her sons, Blaine Tetz (Ethel) and Kevin Tetz (Judy); grandchildren, Kevin, Andrew and Breanna (Ryan); her siblings, Nelda (Dennis), Vicki, Valerie (Neil), Sigurd (Tilly) and Kirsten (Bob); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Nels and Avice Jensen; and sisters, Lorna and Lesley.

Lynn was born on February 12, 1941, at Maidstone, SK and was the second oldest of eight siblings, six sisters and one brother. She grew up in Lloydminster. Lynn was a beautiful young woman, and her family was proud when she was crowned Miss Lloydminster and Saskatchewan Wheat Queen. She was also a talented singer. After high school, Lynn continued her education to become an LPN.

When her sons were young, Lynn and her family moved to Kamloops and later to Oliver B.C.  The boys have fond memories of growing up near their cousins there. Lynn and Orville married in 1983 and had a motorcycle business in Oliver. In the 1980’s they moved to Cawston, BC, where they became orchardists specializing in garlic. In 2016 they sold their farm and moved to Claresholm. Lynn was very creative and did many crafts. Her pine needle baskets were amazing.  She was an accomplished seamstress and even sewed purses from old leather coats.  She also did upholstery and draperies. Lynn handled the many challenges she faced throughout her life with strength and grace.  She was kind and thoughtful to others, always trying to see the best in people.

A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Casa Roma Restaurant banquet room on Saturday, May 20 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made if desired to the Wandering Willows Fundraising Society, P.O. Box 700, Claresholm, AB T0L 0T0.

I had the honour of knowing Mrs. Tetz as not only as a neighbor but through her 2 incredible sons! Her sons were her world and she did an amazing job raising them. She was always very kind and giving! RIP

I can't find the words to convey my true heartfelt feelings. At all of the family gatherings we were blessed to attend together, she was "Big Lynn" and I was "Little Lynne" We lost touch in the late 90's when I moved on to a new husband, and a different life. I didn't even know until I read in the obituary that she had left Cawston and moved to Claresholm. So many memories were lost when our elders passed away :( They were the glue that held the family together.

Most of what is good about me I got from Mom.
