Pre-deceased and waiting for him in heaven with open arms, cold beers and rum are his mother and father, Lydia & Benjamin Schmold; his second mother, Mary Schmold; and his best friend, James Moore.
In the little spare time that Manfred had, he thoroughly enjoyed riding motorcycles, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing guitar, listening and sharing his unique taste and trending music, playing cards, and drinking beer. He was the reigning Corn Hole Champion, and recently became passionate about creating custom decals, t-shirts, hats, hoodies and koozies using his Cricut and heat presses.
Upon completing Gr. 12, Manfred worked for Coaldale Lumber in 1976, starting out as a yard hand thus beginning his career in the lumber industry. His determination, ambition, drive, skill and unique way of looking at things made him a fierce leader and true treasure in the industry. In 1980, he started his journey with Challenger Building Supplies as a General Manager for approximately 20 years. He then moved on to LeAlta Building Supplies and grew close friendships with many of the Hutterite Colonies in Southern Alberta. It was in 2002 that he joined forces with Tom Casey with/Casey Forest Products as a Lumber Broker, and not long after that he worked for Builders First then Nelson Homes. At Nelson Homes he was the General Manager at the Lloydminster Division, then Regional Manager and quickly climbed the corporate ladder to become Vice President. In 2018, Manfred joined the Zytech Building Systems Team – First as a Sales Manager and then quickly promoted into General Manager for the Balzac, Airdrie, Red Deer, and Lloydminster branches. The man was known as a LEGEND in the industry and will never be forgotten. He was admired and served as a mentor, collaborator and role model for all staff that he worked with.
We would like to thank the EMT’s, STARS, first responders and his riding group that were 1st on scene. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and showed up, including the town of Irricana and surrounding communities. Your love, kindness, and support have helped more than you could ever understand.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Zytech Building System’s Mike Powell, Amy Sikina-Johns, Laura Best, and the entire team for their amazing generosity, hugs and guidance regarding arrangements.
