Celebrating the Life of Margaret "Lynne" Castle
Beloved Mother • Grandmother • Sister
"A life filled with love leaves a legacy that lasts forever."
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret "Lynne" Castle on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on October 30, 1946, in Bowsman, Manitoba, Lynne was the cherished daughter of the late Alexander and Clara Sutherland.
Lynne spent her youth in Winnipeg and Ottawa before making Calgary, Alberta, her home in 1971. An entrepreneur at heart, she proudly owned and operated the Creston Valley Bakery from 1977 to 1981, where she became known for her dedication, hard work, and warm smile.
She later settled in Airdrie, Alberta, while always cherishing every opportunity to return to Creston, British Columbia—a place that forever held a special place in her heart.
In 1984, Lynne began a long and fulfilling career as an Executive Assistant with Rocky View School Division. For more than 30 years, until her retirement in 2015, she was admired for her professionalism, dedication, and the genuine care she showed to the many colleagues, students, and families whose lives she touched.
Lynne had a passion for travel and treasured the many adventures she shared with her family. Among her happiest memories were the regular family trips to Hawaii and Palm Springs, where time together created lifelong memories filled with sunshine, laughter, and love.
Whether she was welcoming family around the table, tending to her flowers and garden, solving a crossword or jigsaw puzzle, getting lost in a good book, planning the next holiday, or celebrating Christmas with those she loved, Lynne found happiness in life's simple pleasures. One of the highlights of every week was Friday night supper at her sister Merle's home, where family gathered to share good food, laughter, and one another's company. Those evenings were among the moments Lynne cherished most.
Family was at the centre of Lynne's life. Whether sharing stories around the dinner table, celebrating Christmas, or enjoying time with those she loved, she found her greatest happiness in simply being together. Those moments, more than anything else, became the legacy she leaves behind.
Lynne was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Clara Sutherland, and by her brother-in-law, Bill Ross.
She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children, Stacey (Troy) Valgardson and Kelly (Amanda) Castle; her treasured granddaughters, Myah and Ava Castle, who brought her immeasurable pride and joy; and her beloved grand-dog, Roxy.
Lynne is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Leila Ross and Merle (Donnie) Currie; her sister-in-law, Marrieann Kilborn; her special nieces and nephews, Darryl Currie, Stephanie Currie, Billy (Jennifer) Ross, Michael Ross, and Anna Ross; and numerous other nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Special Thanks
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff on the second floor at Airdrie Care Community for the kindness, dignity, and care they provided to Lynne.
The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Shirley Farrell for her kindness, friendship, and unwavering support. Your thoughtfulness and compassion brought comfort to both Lynne and our family, and we will always be grateful.
A very special thank you goes to Kristen, Laurette, Darlene, Amber, Robyn, and Shawn from A Friend Indeed. Your unwavering compassion, friendship, and support over the past several years meant more to our family than words can express. Your care not only enriched Lynne's life but also brought comfort and strength to all of us during this journey. We truly don't know what we would have done without you.
Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in knowing that the love Lynne shared, the traditions she created, and the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring us together for generations to come.
The family asks that, in remembering Lynne, you spend time with those you love, for she believed life's greatest blessings were found in family.
May we remember Lynne each Christmas season, in every blooming garden, in the pages of a good book, while piecing together a favourite puzzle, and whenever we gather with those we love.
Until we meet again.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
