Maria Aniela Dobia (Blecharczyk)

Maria passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, with her son, Bruno and her daughter, Barbara by her side in Innisfail, Alberta.

Maria Dobia was born in Mszana Dolna, Poland on August 10, 1935. She had four siblings including her dear twin sister, Eva (Visha Radzinska). Maria came to Canada on February 28, 1960, after corresponding with her future husband, Theodore Dobia, for two years, Maria and Ted married on April 19, 1960. They had two children, Bruno and Barbara. Maria and Ted farmed together in the Stauffer district until Ted’s passing in 1993. Bruno and Maria carried on the farming operation.

Maria met Kazimierz “Kazik” Sztainert in 1994 and they had many happy years together, including much travelling.

Maria is lovingly remembered by her son, Bruno and her daughter, Barbara Hogan (Rod); her grandchildren, Jennifer Leonard (Devin MacDonald), Derrick Hogan (Sylvia Trautman), and Haven Stilborn; her great-grandson, Ardie James AJ Leonard; brother-in-law, Stanley Burns and many nieces and nephews. Maria is also remembered by her sister, Eva (Visha) in Poland and Krystina and Ed Warner (nee Sztainert), Gail Fischer (nee Sztainert), Paul and Debbie Sztainert and their children.

Maria was predeceased by her loving husband, Ted; her parents, Franciszek and Marysia Blecharczyk; her brothers, Vincent and Jozef; sister, Hania; brother and sisters-in-law, Frank Dobia (Ardell), Helen Shippelt-Vath (Joe Shippelt and Walter Vath), Val Engman (George), Anne Burns, Stephanie Hansen (Donald) and several beloved nieces and nephews. Maria is also predeceased by her much loved, Kazimierz “Kazik” Sztainert.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Jesuit Martyrs Church in Evergreen, AB on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 @ 1:00 PM.
