Marika Ann Ermel

The family of the late Marika Ermel are saddened to announce her peaceful passing on Friday, June 30, 2023. Marika was born on November 28, 1944, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Marika is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lorne; sister, Mary Jean; daughter, Chris (Jason); son, John (Holly); grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Nicole, Graeme and Claire. She was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Nicholas; and her brothers, Peter, Alex and Nicky.

In 1972, Marika married her loving husband, Lorne, in Cupar, SK, where they remained and ran a café until such time they moved to their farm. They farmed and raised their family until 2003 when they moved to Airdrie, AB, to be closer to their grandchildren. While in Airdrie, Marika enjoyed forging new friendships and spending time at the camper in Drumheller, AB. Marika was always the life of any party. She went out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed and part of her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Airdrie Curling Club on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Marika’s memory may be made to the Dulcina Hospice, 110 Evanspark Manor, Evanston Dr, Calgary, AB T3P 0N4.
