Marilyn Ruth Creasser

December 17th, 1940 - November 14th, 2024
Marilyn Ruth Creasser

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ruth Creasser on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the age of 83, after a very honourable and hard-fought battle with cancer. Marilyn went to her eternal rest surrounded by her family, her final days overflowing with love and support from those she cherished.
Marilyn was born in Trail, British Columbia in 1940, and moved to Calgary in the late fifties. It was there she found the love of her life, her husband Jim. They were married in 1960 and have enjoyed 64 years of wedded bliss and adventure together. They set down strong roots in Balzac where they raised their children and have lived for the last 50 plus years. During those years they welcomed numerous exchange students from around the world that all called her Mom, their home always a haven for many. Marilyn created a home where all were welcome, and all were greeted with an abundance of food and good conversation. No one left her house hungry and without a smile and an open invitation to return. She loved entertaining her large family and many friends in their Balzac home, and enjoyed many visits from relatives all over the world. She loved to visit her father's home country of Norway, and held dear her family there. Marilyn boasted a thriving social life, and was often not without a friend to visit or an event to attend.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jim Creasser; children, Bart (Maxine) Creasser, Terri (Rory) Winslow, Jacquelyn (Lawrence) Carson; grandchildren, Cody Creasser, Cheyanne Spence, Kelsey Winslow (Carlos Turizo), Nathan (Breanna) Winslow, Felicia Marx, and Jayelle Carson; as well as her great grandchildren, Isabelle, Steven, Charlotte, Kingston, Sølvi, Thiago, and Lochlan. Marilyn was very proud and excited to have two more great-granddaughters arriving early 2025.
Marilyn is also survived by her sister-in-law, Katherine Williams, and brother-in-law, Jim Schwindt; her beloved nieces, Nancy (Jeff) Suderman, and Janelle (Scott) Wright; as well as her great nephews and great niece, Nicole, Matthew, Nicholas, and Christopher.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Deborah Omdal; sister, Helen Schwindt; her daughter, Jodi Creasser and brother-in-law, Keith Williams.
We invite all who knew her, to join us at a Celebration of Life for Marilyn, to be held at the Balzac Community Hall on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:00 am.

I am in shock to discover that Marilyn has gone home to her heavenly reward. There is a void in my heart knowing I can no longer visit her or call her up or receive her cheery birthday phone call. Truly a beautiful and caring child of God who took care of so many others for her entire life. A truly good soul who blessed everyone who was fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. Marilyn and Jim opened their hearts and home to so many of us. I am grateful for their love and generosity. Her suffering is over. Her spirit and song of love plays on for all of us to remember and be warmed. Rest in eternal happiness and peace.

Jim, Terry, Bart, Jax, and family; We just now learned with sadness the passing of your dear Marilyn. What a loss you must feel. She was always 'the best of us' in her kind and inclusive ways, her powerful love of family and community, and easy laugh. Gord and I send our sincere condolences to you at this sad time. Although it's been years since we've seen you all (at Dad's funeral in 2019), we have such warm memories of her and deep gratitude for all the ways which she included us in your orbit over the decades. We are truly sorry to have missed celebrating her life together with you at her gathering last month.

I will never forget the love and kindness Marilyn showed my Mom during her final months. She always had a smile and kind words when they were needed and when I needed a hug after Moms passing she was there ready with open arms. Her and Jim were the best neighbors we could ever ask for! Our deepest sympathy to the Creaser family. The world has lost one of a kind. Rest in peace sweet angel. Will miss you and your smile.

Marilyn and Jim and my fam were neighbors in Huntington Hills in the early 70's, when we returned to Calgary they opened their home to our family (for quite a while!) They were so kind to help us resettle back to Calgary and remained good friends to my mum, Angela, over the years. So sorry for your loss Jim and family, Marilyn was a kind soul - may she rest in peace 🙏

When I was young, I used to make the trek east from our farm on bike or on foot to visit the Creasser's pretty regularly. I have never forgotten the time spent learning about ultra light planes and the many other amazing gadgets and cool things Jim was working on, as well as how wonderfully kind Marilyn was. Jim and family, I am so sorry for your loss.

Your Mom was a beautiful, special and wonderful woman who accomplished so much! Being that she loved so selflessly, held her family and friends close, her husband closer, for so many generations is incredibly remarkable! Not to mention, inviting the exchange students from around the world into their home to learn, share and benefit from their knowledge as well was a gift!! I understand they too felt like they were your parents children, that is magnificent alone. Your Mother was one in a million Jax! You were truly blessed! Sending our deepest condolences, our thoughts are with you all now and into the months ahead! Our sympathies go out to you, Carson, Jayelle, and to all of your extended family members! We are so sorry for this once in a lifetime loss! May your dearest Mother now rest in eternal peace and be forever pain free! Love Debbie and Don Adams

My heart aches for the Creasser family. This lovely woman plays a role in fond childhood memories for me. I babysat the Creasser kids in my teens, and have some joyful memories of teasing at the Balzac property. I know that she'll bump into Minnie at heavens kitchen table and share coffee's and laughs and stories, eternally. Rest bow Marilyn, your generous heart deserves it. With Love ❤️ Debbie

What to say about such a wonderful, caring, genuine person. I’d met Marilyn and her some of her beautiful family when I had the absolute privilege to share a hospital room with her, Marilyn was a beautiful lady inside and out. A lot of the times when Marilyns’ family would visit I was included in many conversations with them. Jim & family you’ll never know how much these gestures meant to me. I know the many treasured memories that you have of Marilyn will give you comfort in the days, months and years ahead….With my deepest condolences.
