In Memory
Marian Van Tighem

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mother, Marian Van Tighem on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the age of 89 years. Marian was born in Calgary on February 15, 1937 to Charles and Florence Stunell. She lived there until she married Robert Van Tighem in 1959 and then moved to the dairy farm at De Winton, which is now the Lake at Heritage Pointe. They raised 4 wonderful children and were involved in the Foothills 4H Dairy Club for several years. She was a proud farmer's wife, homemaker and farmhand, helping Robert with all the chores on the farm. Driving the tractor, helping with the hay crops, the milking operation of the dairy farm, cooking, cleaning and everything that a farmer's wife does. She loved to bowl and play games. In 1975, they moved SW of Okotoks, switched to ranching, and raised Salers beef cattle and continued to farm the cropland. Mom loved to sew and was a vendor at the Millarville Farmer's Market and Christmas Markets for many years selling her homemade handicrafts. She played the piano and loved to play cards with family, friends and at the Okotoks Seniors Centre every Wednesday. She loved to travel and go to the casino. Her favorite sayings were "Tomorrow is another day" and "That's the way it goes".
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Dale (Michelle), Beverley Havery, Glenn (Myra), Wayne (Cathy); grandchildren, Jordan, Brennan (Samantha), Jared, Nicole, Matthew Havery, Vanessa Havery; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Aubrey. She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, Helen Garnett, Charles & Bill Stunell; husband, Robert Van Tighem; and son-in-law, Michael Havery.
