Marjorie Murdock

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Ellen Murdock, affectionately known to her family as Marmy, on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 78.

Ellen was born in Calgary on July 18, 1948, and spent her early years growing up on a farm near Olds. She later made Calgary her home for much of her adult life before moving to Red Deer, where she spent the remainder of her years. During her time in Calgary, she had her daughter Winona Paige and later remarried and became a stepmom to Tony, Drew and Adam Blomme.

Ellen had a fulfilling career as an Occupational Therapist, a profession that she truly loved. Her caring nature and desire to help others were reflected in the work she chose to do and the way she lived her life.

Above all else, family was the most important thing to her. She was a loving mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was kind, generous and willing to give her time, love and support to those around her.

Ellen had a wonderfully creative spirit. She loved to sew and quilt as well as reading, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed travelling, particularly when she was younger. Among her favorite memories was a special family trip to Hawaii and later to Newfoundland with her sisters, times that she treasured with the people she loved.

Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Winona Paige Hoffman, son in law, David Hoffman; and her grandchildren, Isabella, Lucas and Dominic. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Maberley and Pat McAdam and brother Bruce Murdock and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents James and Marjorie Murdock, and her brother Warren Murdock.

Ellen leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and family devotion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.

We would like to express our appreciation for the Red Deer Hospice Society doctors, nurses, care staff and volunteers who treated Ellen and her family with such kindness and compassion while spending her last days

there.
