Martha Victoria ("Vicki") Engstrom

Martha Victoria Engstrom (née Loxam) passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side, in Yankee Valley, Airdrie, Alberta on May 4, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born in Calgary, Alberta on September 24, 1944, Vicki lived a life defined by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. She began her career as a hairdresser before fully embracing her role as a homemaker, rancher, and “cow boss” on the family farm with her lifelong partner and beloved husband, Ted. She was the heart of her home and the steady hand behind countless harvests, meals, and warm campfire nights. Throughout her life, Vicki cherished the moments spent with her family, finding her greatest joy in being a mother. Her love and dedication to her children and grandchildren were her most treasured accomplishments, and those memories will remain forever in our hearts.

Vicki was deeply devoted to her faith, her church and her community. A long-time member of Centre Street Church, she loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and lived out her faith through quiet service, delivering meals to families in need and offering care wherever it was needed most.

She found joy in tending her large garden, mowing her grass, gathering loved ones around the fire, card games with her best friends (girls vs guys), and road trips to anywhere…she especially loved the west coast of British Columbia.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ted Engstrom; her children Mark (Brenda), Toe (Traci), Melissa, and Krista (Scott); her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Levi, Lindsay (Cole Paladeau), Braeden, Baylie, Lacey, Brendt, and Ella; and her extended family Cary Skappak and Steve Adams. She is also survived by her best lifelong friends Garry and Marge Uhrich, and their children Mike and Tracey, who are considered family.

Vicki was predeceased by her mother Peggy Schonert, father George Loxam, brothers Doug Beatty and Richard Loxam, and sister Katie Arthur.

Vicki’s legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A private family graveside service will be held in Airdrie on Friday, May 9, 2025.
