In Memory
Mary Evangeline (LeFort) Percival

Surrounded by family, Mary Percival passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 101. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Raymond (Ray) Percival, in 1996. A devoted mother of seven, Mary filled her long, fulfilling life with the joy of family and friends.
Mary's life spanned over a century of remarkable change. Born to an Acadian fishing family in Cheticamp on Cape Breton Island, she recalled that, in childhood, she and her family had no electricity or running water and wove their own cloth for clothing by loom. In her 70s, she taught herself how to use a computer and the internet. She embraced technology fully, and enjoyed receiving news and photos from her children and grandchildren by email.
Mary met the love of her life while working at Woolworths in 1943, and the two relocated to Calgary after the end of the Second World War. The house she and Ray purchased together in West Hillhurst was their home for over fifty years and saw decades of fond memories.
She loved her bowling league, card games, knitting, sewing, and Wednesday night bingo games. Mary's kitchen was always warm and filled with the treats she so lovingly made - peanut butter balls, cookies, raisin squares, pies, jams, jellies, fresh bread, and her legendary Yorkshire puddings. Her care and generosity will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her seven children, Raymond (Lorna), Ron (Janie), Carolyn (Brian), Gordon (Theresa), Gwendolyn (Jim), Bonnie (Gordy) and David (Ellen). She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, who will remember their Nana Mary with love and gratitude.
