Maxine Stangness

Bernice passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Taylor View Towers in Red Deer at the age of 89. 

Bernice was born in Olds to Gillis and Maxine VanDyke on June 22, 1957. Bernice and Cliff Stangness were wed and they resided on the farm outside of Innisfail together for the next 59 years. 

They welcomed their children, Lane in 1959 and Stacey in 1971. Bernice loved being on the farm cooking up amazing meals, gardening and keeping the yard manicured. 

Bernice is lovingly remembered by her son, Lane (Joyce); daughter, Stacey Christie (Bruce); 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, Cliff; brother, Dale; sister, Audrey; daughter in law, Sharon and 1 grandson.

A private family service will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers a donation in Bernice's Memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories at 306, 10430 61 Ave Edmonton, AB T6H 2J3
