Mildred "Jean" Currie (Sim)

February 18th, 1953 - November 20th, 2024
Mildred "Jean" Currie (Sim)

Jean passed away the evening of Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the second of the triplets born to Lawrence and Elva at the Lacombe Hospital.

After graduation Jean attended Secretarial School in Red Deer, Alberta. She married Ernest Currie in 1975. In 1979 they moved to the family farm where they lived for many years before moving to Alix and then Clive where they resided at the time of her passing.

Jean spent many years working at the Brand Office in Stettler, Burnt Lake and eventually in Red Deer.

Jean loved nothing more than keeping her yard beautiful with flowers. She was especially fond of her dogs, Tuffy, Tasha, Tina & Cassie, that she treated as the valuable family members they were. Nothing put a smile on her face more than her furry pets.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Ernest, her son, James and his wife Roberta, her 5 grandchildren, Vanessa, Brandon, Ryan, Kiana & Hailey as well as 6 grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Lorraine Sim and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence & Elva; brother Harvey; sister, Colleen; twin sister, Joan, and her brother-in-laws.

A gathering will be held in the spring to Celebrate Jean’s Life as per her final requests.

Donations can be made in Jean’s honour to the Red Deer hospital, www.rdrhfoundation.com/give or cancer clinic, www.albertacancer.ca/donate

One of my favorite memories from growing up would have to be going to Jean and Ernests farm for holidays. Whether it was Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas or just for a weekend visit. The food was always great, usually ham and potatoes, one of my favorites. And usually a fun evening of cards and games afterwards. Many many great memories for sure.
