Myrna Black

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Myrna Maureen Black. Myrna passed away on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at the Red Deer Hospital after a brief illness. Myrna was born at the Eckville hospital, on April 30th, 1941. She grew up on the family farm not far from Benalto. In 1969 she married the love of her life, Ted Black and moved to the Black farm where she resided until her passing. Myrna loved her family more than anything. She was a wonderful mother, and becoming a grandmother was her greatest joy. She also became a great-grandmother in 2018 and these babies brought her much happiness in her later years. Myrna is lovingly remember by her loving daughter, Melanie Black (Matthew Newby) of Spruce View; her grandsons, Dylan McIntosh of Sylvan Lake, Kurtis McIntosh (Miranda) of Airdrie and their children Gracie and Theodore “Teddy”, and Carter Newby of Spruce View. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian (Lawrence) Dufresne of Sylvan Lake, as well as several nieces and nephews and her special friend, Craig Moody. Myrna was predeceased by her beloved husband Theodore “Ted” Black, her parents, Edward and Verna Giselman; as well as her sisters, Carol Taylor and Jackie Jensen.  As per Myrna’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. We will have a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donors choice.
