It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Noel Whalen of Heart’s Desire, NL on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026. Noel was a beloved father, brother and uncle. He will forever be in the hearts of his son, Christian; sister, Roxanne (Bill) Langer; brother, Neil Whalen (Danielle); and sister, Amanda Whalen; niece, Maggie (John) Eckert; and three nephews, William Langer, David and Daniel Whalen.

Noel was born on Christmas Day, 1969 to the late Walter and Mary Margaret Whalen.

When we think of Noel, we think Big. 

Noel had a big heart, a big personality, a big voice and a big laugh. He filled every room he entered and he loved to talk.

He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He was also a very talented musician and singer. He had a heart of gold, was generous and loyal to no end. He will be missed by his many lifelong friends.

Noel has been reunited with his mom and his best friend, dad.

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will take place at the mortuary Chapel in Heart’s Desire on Sunday, August 2nd from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at funeral mass on Monday, August 3 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heart’s Desire.

I can’t help but picture Noel reunited with his parents, him playing music once again with his Dad, where every note is filled with love, every song is familiar, and there are no more goodbyes, only harmonious music.

Sending my deepest condolences to his family. May you find comfort in knowing that love doesn’t end, and neither does the music it leaves in our hearts and in our memories.
Noel’s music will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Its hard to believe that you are gone, this time last year you were putting down our flooring , your probably looking down at everyone and making a joke now, the last year or so has been hard on you but I know your happier now that you are free and your with you Mom and Dad and the love of your life Rest In Peace Noel . Noel was a phenomenal person. I knew Noel as a student first and then. As he grew older he became a friend.
Coming from a solid family, Noel had no choice but to be the good person he became. In fact, when I sometimes spoke to Noel, I truly felt as if I was speaking to Walter himself as he assumed many of his skills, especially those involving carpentry.
Noel gave me many memories that I will always cherish. More than anyone else, he always managed to make me laugh.
My sincerest condolences to Amanda, Roseanne, Neil and their families. May he rest in peace.
