Olga Short

Olga (Ollie) Short passed away on April 4, 2023. She was 66 years old.

Ollie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Keith and Trisha (Aaron); her sisters-in-law, Cindy, Irene and Francine; her brother-in-law, Allan; her nieces and nephews, Darcy (Rick), Jason (Sheri), Allan, Jason, Sarah (Trevor), Amanda (Clayton), Colin and Chevy; along with extended family members and many longtime friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband, Billy; her parents Mary & Vasil; her sister Gladys; her parents-in-law, Bill Sr. (Iva) and Betty; brothers-in-law, Gary and Rick; and sister-in-law, Janice.

Ollie was born & raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She moved out west to Calgary at the age of 19 to begin her life with her beloved husband, Billy. Following Billy’s unexpected passing, Ollie dedicated her life to raising her children. She was a loving, devoted and proud mother. In retirement she enjoyed spending her mornings reading on her back deck and working in her garden. Her Christmas baking was a favorite of the entire family. She loved to travel and had many fond memories of trips taken with friends and her children around Canada and the United States.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Nurses, Doctors, Technicians and Support Staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre (Unit 38), Foothills Medical Centre (Unit 57) and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (BMT Clinic) in Calgary. Your compassion, dedication and care helped make a very difficult time easier to navigate.

At Ollie’s request, no formal service will be held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Saint Andrew’s Cemetery in Cochrane, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that financial donations be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation and that for those who can to take the time to donate blood with Canadian Blood Services.
