Patricia "Adair" Forsythe

In Loving Memory of Patricia Adair Forsythe who passed on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Adair was the last surviving member of a family of seven siblings. She was a beloved mother to six children, grandmother to six grandchildren, and great-grandmother to one great-grandchild.

She was the glue that held her family together, making everyone feel welcome, loved, and at home. She leaves countless memories of a life filled with family, friendship, creativity, generosity, kindness and adventure.

If you wanted a good, strong cup of coffee, Mom’s coffee pot was always on. If you were “dropping in,” there was always time for a visit and something good to eat.

Adair was incredibly creative and loved her crafts. Her children often wore matching, hand-sewn outfits she had made. She had a huge sewing room with rolls of fabric and spindles of thread. She was talented in ceramics and china painting. She made beautiful Christmas wreaths and glass blocks which often sold out at Xmas craft fairs. She had her own wood shop, where she enjoyed creating yard and lawn silhouettes. 

Mom loved preparing meals for friends and family, and her dinner table was always open. Often hosting many “special occasion” dinners of 20 or more. Her home was where people gathered, shared stories, laughed, and made memories.

In the 1970s, she hosted barbecues for the Hereford Association, and memorably served Prairie Oysters, much to the delight of Russian guests, who’d come to Canada to purchase Gramp’s prized Hereford bulls.

Adair loved to travel, exploring Canada, the USA and Europe with her family and friends. One of her special journeys took her to New Zealand to visit members of the national curling team, who she had hosted several times on the farm while they were in Alberta during the Brier competitions.

Her other adventures involved her unbelievable luck at the Casinos and shopping sprees with her sisters. 

Mom was very involved in the Order of Eastern Star, holding many different chairs and acting as Grand Ruth - Grand Chapter of Alberta. 

Mom was loved by many, and we will miss her welcoming spirit, her warm and generous heart, and the beautiful smile that shone through her eyes. We will also remember her joyous laugh at a good salty joke.

Mom is no longer with us, but the love she gave, the people she brought together, and the memories she created will remain with us always.

We thank the staff at AgeCare McKenzie Towne Long Term Care for their kindness and outstanding care during Mom’s final years.
