January 18th, 1931 - April 5th, 2025
Patricia Van Der Zouwen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ellen Van Der Zouwen of Calgary, AB, on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at the age of 94.

Patricia was born in Pincher Creek, Alberta, on January 18th, 1931. In her younger years, she lived on the farm, where her passion for horses and animals flourished. She later worked as a butcher in Pincher Creek before moving to Calgary and building her career as a supervisor in housekeeping at the General Hospital.

Patricia had a welcoming and gentle personality, and she was always happy to have visitors and play a game of Hand and Foot. She was a fun-loving, caring, and compassionate person, known for always giving and never taking. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate those around her, always remembering to send a card for special occasions, which was usually paired with a brand new pair of colourful socks. It was without question that Patricia loved her family more than anything. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Patricia leaves behind three generations of family that she helped guide throughout her life. She will be remembered as a caring and loving sister to her brothers, Allan and Bill Baldwin; a beloved mother to Eleanor; and a devoted grandma to Sabrina (Mark) and Crystal (Garett); as well as her seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Xavier, Sevanha, Kaige, Grace, Silver, and Ryker. Patricia will also be dearly missed by her 2 cats, Midnight and S'more, who she cared for deeply.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Wilmot and Eleanor Baldwin; and her brother, Fredrick, who will all be there welcoming her into heaven with open arms. And of course, the numerous cats and dogs that she cared for and loved over the years.

Patricia's kindness, generosity, strength, braveness, and zest for life will never be forgotten, and she will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

A Graveside Ceremony will be held at Union Cemetery, followed by a luncheon to share stories and memories. Further details will be shared once finalized.

Condolences, memories, and photos may be sent to the family directly.
