Penni Ann (Miskimens) Edwards, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the age of 72. Penni was born in Bakersfield, CA to Kathalene Miskimens and Ray Leslie Miskimens on August 14, 1953. She was the eldest of three children including brothers, Scott (Roberta) and Todd Miskimens. Penni spent most of her early life in Chehalis, WA where she attended school and graduated from W.F. West High School. In 1973 she became a loving mother to her first daughter, Misty Michele Elston. She had an adventurous life, embracing new experiences and making a home wherever her journey took her.
This journey eventually led her to immigrate to Canada, where she further grew their family by becoming mother to Heidi (Edwards) Otteson in 1983. This is eventually where she settled until her passing, in Calgary, AB where she was also blessed with the love of her five grandchildren, Taylor Elston-Zacharias, Alexandra Robertson, Ethan Otteson, Hunter Otteson, and Carter Otteson. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Forrest Robertson and Rosemary Jane Robertson. Alongside her two daughters she carried meaningful relationships with her son-in-laws Sheldon Zacharias and Adrian Otteson.
Penni made her work life enjoyable in a number of spaces throughout her time including Fidelity Mutual Savings and Loan, Springbank Community High School, Re/max and The Alberta Centre for Toxicology where she held wonderful friendships for many years, some extending into her final days.
She found time to enjoy many other special things in her time. Some of her more notable interests being her sparkling jewellery, Swarovski crystals, Owala water bottles, and the color red. Her most beloved hobbies included practicing clogging, knitting, crocheting, and singing passionately in the car. Penni enjoyed socializing and making friends wherever she went. Not only was she a joy to be around but she was also vivacious story teller. Penni was a kind friend, a sister, a caring “Noni” or “Yaya”, and a proud mother. She was happy to brag about her family and share pictures to anyone who may listen. She would always take the time to lend an ear to those around her.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life in the fall and further details will become available as the family prepares.
