In Memory

Peter Yaskiw

February 7th, 1947 - October 18th, 2025
Peter Yaskiw

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather, Peter Paul Yaskiw, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. He was born in 1947 in Birtle, Manitoba, son of the late Paul and Olga (Derlago) Yaskiw. In 1974 he married Donna (Dushnisky) and they shared 52 happy years together.

Peter will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; children, Jamie and Julie; grandchildren, Cody (Evelyn), Ella and Madyson; sisters, Donna Marie Yaskiw and Maureen Kostesky; brothers, Rod Dushnisky (Fiona) and Kelvin Dushnisky (Lidia); aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Peter was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law, Rhonda Francey and siblings, Rosemarie and Joseph.

Peter was a devoted family man who was admired for his kind and compassionate qualities and for his wonderful sense of humour. He was, in his own words, “a farmer at heart” and he enjoyed nature, driving, sports, “grocery shopping”, reading and he was very proud of his Ukrainian heritage.

Peter and Donna left the family farm in 1997 and moved to Airdrie, AB where he continued his interests in agriculture.

Thank you to the staff at Prairie Rose Funeral Services in Airdrie for their compassion towards our family and for their care of Peter.

A Celebration of Peter’s Life was held for him following his cremation.

I can't begin to express the sadness in my heart for my brother who loved all of us in his family circle so deeply. I will keep our precious times together and memories of Peter locked in my heart. Peter although you were taken from us suddenly, I know you have been received by our departed ones that we also love so dearly. You have been united and are loved by family members from our past.
When candles burn I will think of all of you celebrating in another place of peace and calm, and watching over all of us here.
Until we meet again, "Rest In Peace" my dear brother and special friend.

Lovingly, your sister Maureen (Moe) XOXO
