In Memory
Raymond Lambert

Raymond
Douglas Lambert passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Peter
Lougheed Hospital, Calgary Alberta at the age of 61 years.
He
is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jacquie; his children, Sheena(Neil),
Raymond Joseph “R.J.” (Paige) and Hailey (Isaac); grandchildren, Allan,
William, Shaylie, John, Roxas, Roland, Reece and Elijah; sisters, Linda (Tom),
Merna, Lorna (Lincoln), Sharon; and step-siblings, Sydney (Lorna) and Iris
(Dan); aunties; many cousins; many, many nephews and nieces; friends he
considered brothers; and the Metis community.
He
is predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Alfred Lambert, his brother, Alfred,
sisters, Annette and Brenda; his son, Douglas; in-laws, Lucien and Joyce Thomas;
his mentors, Uncle Bob Beazely, Wayne Vivier and Marlene Lanz (his second mom
as he would say).
Raymond
touched a lot of hearts, whether it be through his many mediums of art
creations that went all over the world, and just being friendly and social.
He
would spend his time creating logos, backdrops, awards and many other creations
for his Métis association, whether it be local 87, Region 3 ( at the
time), or the Métis Nation of Alberta.
A mural stands at International Avenue, reflecting our community’s
history and cultural diversity. This mural is dedicated to the people of Treaty
7, Niitsitapu (Blackfoot), Iyahe Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, Inuits, and the Métis
Nation of Alberta. It is called “My
Dances and the Lessons of a Mother Earth”. This Mural is located at 5238 17th
Ave. SE. (You may say Ray was born with a pencil in his hand.)
Raymond
also believed in his family, he was caring, keeping it strong and keeping
families together. He would help people who needed help because that was who he
was. He touched a lot of people’s hearts through his life journey and will be
truly missed.
His
Celebration of Life and Memorial will be held at Local 87 1539 St. S.E., on
Monday, April 22, 2024, from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. Officiated by his brother,
Sydney and opening prayer by his cousin, Ila, an elder in our Metis community.
There will be drums, fiddles, and a Red River Cart. Ray will be sent to
the stars the way he wanted through his Métis culture. His burial will be
announced on a later date.
A donation in Raymond’s memory may be made to one of the many cancer foundations of your choice, or plant a tree.
